Reasoning:
In the project that the organization developed with the children and women of the Atlas last August 2015 we have detected a series of problems, among which are the difficulties of schooling for girls, who have their training interrupted long before their male colleagues. In addition, children do not attend school until they are 6 years old, girls get married very young, and adult women experience many difficulties derived from the patriarchal society, since they are the only ones in charge of carrying out all the tasks related to home tasks while working hard in the surrounding fields only with the help of other women.
To build a more egalitarian society where gender roles are not so marked by patriarchy and girls can access basic education rights to strengthen their autonomy and decision-making capacity, the organization will launch a cooperation project in different Berber villages. This project will take as its main axis the birth and consolidation of different centers from which will try to change the reality of women and girls in the Atlas Mountains.
Goals of the project:
Create centers in these towns that will have the following purposes:
- Promote a daycare for children between 3 and 6 years old.
- Provide literacy classes to adult women.
- Teach reading and writing to illiterate women.
- Offer different training to women to develop their own projects.
- Give talks to mothers and girls about the dangers of early marriage for girls.
- Fight against girls dropping out of school.
How will we carry it out?
In order to achieve all of this, we are going to rent houses in these towns that will function as centers from where we will do different activities that help meet the objectives set.
Each center will have the figure of a worker who will act as coordinator of the center and a teacher for the youngest children who participate in the day care service to prevent younger girls from taking care of their younger siblings while their mothers work in the fields.
This coordinator is also going to apply the program of activities that we are going to establish in the different local areas such as lectures, trainings, classes for women, etc. And will be responsible for the dissemination and publicity of them in the town.
WHEN AND WHERE WILL IT BE DONE?
It is planned to begin with the start-up of the centers at the end of May or the beginning of June. The centers will be located in the villages that we have found that are most affected by gender equality issues, on which the organization is committed to working hard. The project will begin with the impulse of a center located in the town of Ait Yaakoub.
RESOURCES
- A coordinator responsible for the center, responsible for the management and organization of the centers and the project in general in the town of Ait Yaakoub.
- A place where all the programmed activities will be taught.
- Work material for children and women linked to the center.

The budget is € 180 per month for a center with a total of 100 participants (boys, girls and women). Here are the costs:
FINANCING:
This year we decided to focus our efforts on this project, so all the funding that is not used in the rest of the work fields will be exclusively dedicated to the project of the Atlas centers. The initial cost of commissioning and the following 3 months of operation of the centers amounts to a total of €2490. The association will allocate 940 euros left over from the summer work camps in 2015, and from the 2016 Easter projects an amount of 291 euros. Therefore, to achieve full funding the association must collect 1259 euros, for which different options are being considered. The project will need periodic financing to guarantee its operation.
To start we consider these options:
- Find new partners for the association.
- Make a group on the Teaming page
- Conduct a Crowdfounding campaign
We encourage you to collaborate with new ideas that are happening to you, among which there may be some platform from which we can obtain continuous and stable funding to successfully develop this project.
This project is supported by the association of Senderos Solidarios, if you want to contribute your grain of sand with them you can participate in the solidarity marches they organize to finance solidarity projects.

The total cost of this project is 1.140 euros due to the compromise and implication of our team and sponsors. The association has been able to collect 1.895 euros thanks to the extra money obtained with the previous summer camps. The addition of those amounts of money has surpassed the objectives determined by the association. This money has been put aside as a reserve to pay the monthly local expenses.

Thank to one event organized by one of our volunteer Teresa Roca, in the Cultural Center of Xativa we have been able to hold on until the end of the year.
